  The   Pentagon   declined to confirm or deny reports from a new book alleging that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen.   Mark Milley   overstepped his power during the end of the Trump presidency.  "I can’t speak to the validity," Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby News’ Jennifer Griffin when asked about the specific allegation that Milley secretly attempted to prevent Trump from having the ability to launch nuclear weapons, a claim published in the new book co-written by Washington Post associate editor Bob Woodward and national political reporter Bob Costa.   "According to the State Department there's a minimum of 100 Americans that did not get out," Hemmer said. "Why?" The spokesman said there were "a lot of efforts to contact" the Americans left in Afghanistan and he couldn't account for every specific case.   The Pentagon reported this morning that there was only one suicide bombing yesterday and it was at the Abbey gate at the airport in Kabul: They aren’t sure how the second bombing reports near the Baron hotel came to be, but said they believe there was only one bombing yesterday. Remember,  Stuart Scheller was relieved for cause after demanding that senior U.S. leaders hold themselves accountable for actions made during the U.S. military's withdrawal from   Afghanistan   that led to the deaths of 13 service members. Officials confirmed to Fox News on Thursday that 11 Marines, an Army soldier and a Navy corpsman were killed in explosions near Kabul's airport Thursday.   The  U.S. military  launched another helicopter rescue mission outside the  Kabul  airport last night to rescue 'less than' 20 Americans, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby revealed Wednesday.  This is the third time American forces have launched helicopters to rescue Americans outside the airport.  "Last night, during the period of darkness, there was an operation to be able to go out and safely evacuate evacuees back into Kabul," U.S. Army Maj. Gen. William Taylor told reporters during a briefing. "They are at Hamid Karzai International Airport and they are preparing to be evacuated."  Both Taylor and Kirby did not elaborate on the specifics of the mission, but said it happened within the Afghan capital.  Kirby said: “If you’re an evacuee that we can get out, we’re going to continue to get you out.” Notice the caveat  “that we can get out” .
