WATCH: Democrat Slammed for Calling Helene Victims ‘Political Props’ During Trump’s Visit

A House Democrat from Pennsylvania has come under fire after labeling victims of the Helene disaster in Western North Carolina as “political props” during former President Donald Trump’s visit to the region. The controversial remarks were made by Representative Brendan Boyle, sparking heated debates across social media and political circles.

Several Helene victims spoke earlier today as Trump visited Asheville to witness firsthand the aftermath of the tragedy that occurred four months ago and to assess how recovery efforts are progressing. Trump’s visit included meetings with survivors, community leaders, and emergency responders to highlight the ongoing challenges faced by the community.

However, Boyle’s comments cast a shadow over the visit. In a statement, the Democrat said:

“My heart breaks for them, for that family and the others who’ve been afflicted. I’m not sure using them as political props for an event for Donald Trump is really going to give them the help that they need.”

This statement has drawn sharp criticism from Trump supporters and others who argue that Boyle’s remarks are both dismissive and tone-deaf. One response, in particular, went viral:

“Pardon my French, but F you, Brendan Boyle. President Trump is giving these victims a voice, something they haven’t had since all this began. Biden has all but ignored these people and FEMA’s help has been lackluster. These victims are now, finally getting attention from the federal government and hopefully, the help they desperately need. What a schmuck.”

Critics of Boyle have blasted his comments as insensitive, accusing him of politicizing a tragedy for partisan gain. Many argue that the victims’ voices deserve to be heard regardless of the political context, while others questioned whether the visit was more about optics than actual assistance.

Supporters of Trump defended the former president, pointing to his direct engagement with affected families and his focus on recovery efforts. They contend that visits like this bring much-needed national attention to crises that might otherwise be ignored.

This incident underscores the growing tension between Democrats and Republicans over how leaders should address disasters and aid affected communities. While Trump’s supporters celebrated his visit as compassionate, Boyle’s remarks have drawn attention to the fine line between advocacy and political grandstanding.

As the debate rages on, the people of Western North Carolina continue their fight to rebuild their lives. Many hope that the focus will soon shift back to providing tangible support for the victims and their recovery efforts.
