'Strange' days ahead for Benedict Cumberbatch, who lands Marvel role

LOS ANGELES — The internet's strange obsession with Benedict Cumberbatch has been magically amplified: The Sherlock star has locked in the lead role for Marvel Studios' Doctor Strange.
The long-rumored deal was made official with a statement on Marvel.com.Doctor Strange is slated for November 4, 2016.
If Cumberbatch's deal is the standard Marvel contract, it means a multi-picture deal that will see the neurosurgeon-turned-sorcerer Stephen Strange in a handful of Marvel films, including, but certainly not limited to, the Phase 3 finale Infinity Wars — which will be split into two movies, as we predicted back in the summer.
Here's the lingering question: Will Cumberbatch use his American accent, like he did in August: Osage County and 12 Years a Slave? Or will Stephen Strange be written as a Brit to match the man behind the Fu Manchu? Will he even have a Fu Manchu?
Over to you, Internet.
