United Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Evacuation Slide Deploys in Midair

A United Airlines jet is seen taking off from Pittsburgh International Airport on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 in Imperial, Pa.

A United Airlines flight was diverted to Wichita, Kansas after the evacuation slide accidentally deployed in midair on Sunday.
None of the 96 passengers on board the Boeing 737 were hurt.

The plane was en route from the Chicago O'Hare International Airport to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California when the accident happened.
Passenger Taylor Martinez called the flight "the scariest of all time" on Twitter. Another passenger, Michael Schroeder, said the crew was "pretty calm" about the whole thing.

A similar incident happened on a JetBlue flight in November 2013, when the evacuation slide activated during a flight from Fort Myers, Florida, to Boston, forcing the plane to land at the Orlando International Airport.
