'Designing Women' Fave Meshach Taylor Dead At 67

Meshach Taylor, best known for his role as ex-con Anthony Bouvier, the sole male staffer at Sugarbaker Designs on Designing Women, has died. He was 67.
The Associated Press reports that the actor, who earned an Emmy nod for his role onWomen, died of cancer at his home near Los Angeles. On Friday, Taylor's family delivered the news of the actor's decline to family and friends.
"It is with love and gratitude that we sorrowfully announce that our darling, amazingly brilliant and dynamic, Meshach, the incredible father, husband, son and friend has begun his grand transition," they wrote. "Those who desire to post memories, we are open and graciously accepting all gestures of peace."
While most recognizable for the antic he shared alongside Dixie Carter, Delta Burke, Annie Potts and Jean Smart on the show, which ran from 1986 to 1993, Taylor had a well-rounded body of work that spanned several decades. He was a series regular as plastic surgeon Sheldon Baylor on CBS sitcom Dave's World from 1993-97, appeared in both Mannequin movies as flamboyant Hollywood Montrose, recurred on kids show Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide and most recently had a two-episode guest spot on CBS's Criminal Minds.
Meanwhile, Mary Kate and Ashley loyals likely know him as Mr. N from Double, Double, Toil and Trouble .
