Snowden Snaps a Selfie With Glenn Greenwald and Company

American journalist Glenn Greenwald, right, spoke to a congressional committee investigating reports based on documents that show Brazil was targeted by spy agencies from the U.S., Britain and Canada, at Congress in Brasilia, Brazil, on Oct. 9, 2013.

Edward Snowden recently took a selfie in Moscow with the two journalists who made him famous. The photo showed up online Thursday morning after it was posted in multiple places.
Snowden, David Miranda, Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras (left to right) are together in the picture, which Miranda put up on his Facebook page.

Poitras, Greenwald and a number of other journalists have worked with Snowden or information he has leaked about the United States' National Security Agency. Documents Snowden obtained while working as a contractor for the NSA show the organization spies on American citizens as well as a range of other governments, including U.S. allies.

Laura Poitras

Poitras, a documentary filmmaker, first convinced Greenwald to listen to what Snowden had to say and reported on leaked National Security Agency information with The GuardianThe Washington Post and The New York Times.

Glenn Greenwald

Greenwald is more well-known publicly, having been the face of The Guardian's team that won a Pulitzer Prize for publishing a number of reports on allegations of NSA spying.

David Miranda

Miranda is Greenwald's partner, and was famously detained for nine hours in London while he was carrying classified documents allegedly pertaining to spying practices conducted by the U.S. and the United Kingdom.

Miranda also posted this photo on his Facebook page.

The Moscow reunion was the first time Snowden had seen Poitras and Greenwald since they were together in Hong Kong last May. In June 2013, Snowden flew to Moscow, where he presumably lives at an undisclosed location.
It's not clear when the photo was taken, but The Intercept, the publication Greenwald now works for, tweeted that the photo was taken in Moscow.
