Universal Orlando Resort finally lifted the veil on its highly-anticipated new attractions at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter — namely, Gringotts Wizarding Bank.
New images released Thursday show the park's centerpiece ride, "Escape from Gringotts." The ride will be a "multi-sensory, multi-dimensional experience," which uses 4K, hi-definition media and 360-degree sets, Eric Hunt, creative producer of the ride, toldMashable.
"It's a next-generation attraction," Hunt adds.
Passengers on the ride will be tasked with trying to retrieve an object from a Gringotts' vault, recalling a moment in the last Harry Potter book The Deathly Hallows. Beloved (and a few unloved) characters from the series, including Harry, Ron, Hermoine, the goblin Griphook and even Bellatrix Lestrange and Lord Voldemort will appear throughout the ride in newly filmed scenes.
The images also give us a first glimpse at the goblins, which act as the bank's cantankerous tellers. Hunt calls the goblins his "stepchildren," having spent the past two and a half years developing them.
"They are lively, have attitude and act quite disturbed that we (Muggles) are there," he said.
And, of course, Gringotts would not be complete with a 60 ft., fire-breathing dragon to guard the vaults and terrorize intruders.
The new addition to the theme park, which will double the size of the wizarding world in Orlando, Florida, will also feature King's Cross Station, complete with a working Hogwarts Express, Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley and several shops familiar to Potter fans, including a three-story Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.
The park's new attractions are set to open this summer.
