SAN FRANCISCO, California — East Coast or West Coast? New York City or San Francisco? For some Americans, these are questions of taste, preference and existential import seemingly as old as geography itself. Thousands upon thousands of words have been written comparing the two cities; The New York Times even explained "Why San Francisco Is Not New York" just two months ago.
For further insight into this distinctly American — and never-ending — debate, Mashableon Monday caught up with one prominent New Yorker fresh off his own trip to San Francisco. You may have heard of him; his name is Cookie Monster and he lives on NYC's Sesame Street.
Mr. Monster was in S.F. last week, posting some photos to Instagram, taking in the sights and attending to other monster matters. Below, you can see Instagram video of him enjoying the smells at one of S.F.'s many food trucks. After returning to New York, he responded to our questions via email.
New York vs. San Francisco: Cookie Monster Weighs In
So what brought you out to SF?
Business ... Cookie business.
What were the highlights? What was your favorite thing you ate?
Me loved going to the Giants game, and me really love the food truck scene! The “Cookie Monster” dessert at the Frozen Kuhsterd Food truck was delicious. Me proud to have me name on it!
Some people have really strong opinions about why SF is better than NYC, and vice versa. How would you compare the two?
Both cities are fun with lots of terrific people! And lots of delicious cookies!
What's one thing you like about SF that can't be found in NYC?
The Golden Gate Bridge.
What's one thing you like about NYC that can't be replicated in SF?
The Brooklyn Bridge.
Would you ever consider a permanent move out here, or is this more of a 'nice place to visit' kind of thing?
Me not making a permanent move, but me would love to visit more often! Me had a blast!
